The awards were judged by looking for companies which traded successfully out of county, and promoted the local area. Their inspirational preserves now also have new labels. Curio Spirits Company have a new product – their Cornish Cup. It’s a drink to share inspired by the traditional punch used in the British Navy during the 17th century. It’s made from 5 main ingredients, all natural, and sourced locally when possible: Spirits, water, sugar, citrus and tea. In this unique recipe they combine Curio Dry gin distilled in Mullion, blend with Cornish water, West Cornwall honey, homegrown lemon verbena and Assam tea from the estate where William, their distiller, was born while his dad was a tea plantation manager. They use their own blend of chai spices to create the most tasty and convivial drink originating from Cornwall. Cornish Cup is best served with ginger ale and a slice of orange or lemonade and lemon thyme. Curio Spirits have also recently been named as a BBC Good Food Champion! (Stand W416).
Folkington’s are showcasing their new range of premium mixers. The range of six are available in 150ml mini-cans which are ideal for outside catering, hotels, pubs and the hospitality industry. They are also available in retail packs of 8 for shops. The range comprises two Indian Tonic waters (including a light alternative), ginger ale, bitter lemon, soda water and Sicilian lemonade. Each have been made using natural botanical extracts made in small batches; in this way Folkington’s mixers complement the many craft spirit brands that have come to the market. Crucially however, Folkington’s have been careful to ensure that each mixer is also a delicious drink in its own right and can be drunk “au nature”.
